Laser Facial: Personalised Skin Renewal

A Flexible Treatment Plan, Built Around You

For laser facials we offer a personalised plan according to your needs. We combine different laser technologies to target specific concerns like pigmentation, redness, dullness, uneven texture or skin tags, layering treatments gradually to deliver brighter, clearer and more resilient skin.

Personalised Care

Your journey begins with a consultation and skin assessment. From there, we build a step-by-step plan using the most suitable treatments, spaced over several weeks.

We select from a flexible range of laser techniques to suit your skin’s condition at each visit. Every plan is personalised to support your goals:

Precision Facial

The Precision Facial includes a combination of targeted treatments such as pigmentation removal, hair removal, thread vein treatment, fibroma or skin tag removal. These treatments each have their own dedicated pages, which are linked above in the planner for more detail. If a client needs extensive work in one of these areas, we would treat it separately using the appropriate pricing and protocols.

The Precision Facial is designed for lighter work across multiple areas of concern. At £200, it represents excellent value.

Best for: detailed treatments of focal skin issues

Strengthening Facial

Our laser genesis protocol combines two complementary laser treatments to help rebuild and reinforce the skin’s deeper layers. By stimulating collagen production with different types of laser energy, we improve skin strength, texture and tone in preparation for resurfacing, or as a standalone option for long-term maintenance.

This phase can help restore some volume to the skin, gently lifting and smoothing uneven areas over time.

It is typically offered as a course of two treatments. Some clients may choose to have just one, or to skip it entirely depending on their skin needs.

Best for: softening lines, improving texture, boosting skin resilience.

Coolpeel Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing uses a fractional Erbium laser to create thousands of tiny micro-columns across the skin. This triggers a natural healing response that stimulates collagen production and promotes overall skin remodelling, gradually improving texture, tone and surface quality.

It is a more intense treatment with visible results. Most clients experience a few days of redness and peeling afterwards, followed by continued improvements in clarity and smoothness.

This stage is often performed after a course of skin strengthening, when the skin is more resilient and ready for deeper renewal. Some clients opt for a light Coolpeel, while others prefer a more intensive pass to reach their goals.

Best for: smoothing rough texture, softening lines, reducing visible pores and signs of sun damage.

Laser Facial FAQ

After your consultation and patch test, we usually recommend a course of 1 to 6 treatments. These may include a combination of Precision Facial work, Strengthening Facials and Coolpeel Resurfacing, depending on your skin’s needs and how it responds over time.

Not every client will need every phase. Some may skip steps, while others may repeat a phase more than once. The treatment planner is flexible and allows us to adjust your plan as we go.

We generally charge £200 per visit for all Laser Facial treatment sessions.

Yes. While most people benefit from a short course of treatments, you are welcome to have just one session if you prefer.

Some clients use Laser Facials as an occasional reset, while others build them into their regular skin maintenance routine. We will advise you honestly based on your skin and goals.

Most people tolerate Laser Facial treatments well, though the sensation varies depending on what we include in your session:

  • Precision Facial work (such as vein treatment) may feel like being pinged with an elastic band.

  • Strengthening Facials begin with gentle warming from Laser Genesis, which many people find soothing. This is followed by Q-Switch Fractional treatment, which can feel prickly or fizzy in certain areas.

  • Coolpeel Resurfacing is more intense and can feel hot or stingy, especially on sensitive skin. Your skin may feel hot or tight afterwards. We apply intensive cooling before you leave, and you can continue using cold packs at home if needed.

We recommend taking paracetamol about an hour before your appointment if that is a safe medication for you to take. Please avoid ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory medication, as this can cause complications.

This depends on the specific treatments included in your session. Each component has its own expected healing timeline. You can read more about what to expect on the dedicated pages:

This facial has two parts: a warming phase followed by a fractional phase.

The warming phase uses Long Pulse Nd:YAG to gently heat the skin. Most people find this relaxing, with no visible effect and no downtime.

The fractional phase uses Q-Switch laser to trigger deeper renewal. This can cause generalised redness (erythema) and pinpoint bleeding, especially in focal areas. The skin may feel warm, dry or slightly rough for about 3 days.

Full recovery typically takes around 5 to 7 days.

24 hours after a Strengthening Facial

Coolpeel Resurfacing works by encouraging the upper layers of skin to shed gradually, helping to improve texture, clarity and pigmentation.

For the first hour or two after treatment, your face may feel uncomfortably hot. This is part of the laser’s intended action and will settle after a short time. Cool packs can be used gently if needed for comfort.

Over the next few days, your skin may look flushed and feel dry or tight. Some areas may feel rough as the skin renews.

Light flaking or peeling is common between days 3 and 5, and often affects the entire face. Most people feel presentable again by day 5 to 7.

We recommend avoiding makeup for at least one week after treatment to allow the skin to heal properly. Applying products too early can interfere with recovery and increase the risk of irritation.

It is very important that your skin is completely free of makeup, sunscreen and self-tanning products on the day of your treatment. Please cleanse thoroughly before your appointment, preferably in the shower, so all traces are removed.

If any product remains on your skin, we may need to reschedule your appointment for safety reasons.

We cannot perform resurfacing treatments like Coolpeel on tanned skin.

You must avoid significant sun exposure for at least 4 weeks before treatment. Even if your tan appears faded, the skin remains more reactive and carries a higher risk of complications such as pigmentation changes.

If your skin still reads as tanned on our melanin meter, we will defer treatment. In some cases, we may recommend waiting until autumn or winter, when your skin has fully returned to its natural baseline.

We only offer Coolpeel Resurfacing to clients with Fitzpatrick skin types I to III.

Darker skin types carry a significantly higher risk of hypopigmentation and other unwanted pigment changes with this kind of laser. For this reason, we do not perform Erbium resurfacing on Fitzpatrick IV or above.

We use a professional melanin reader to assess skin type accurately, and will always prioritise your safety. If resurfacing is not suitable for your skin, we can discuss alternative treatments during your consultation.

For 4 weeks prior to treatment

  • Avoid strong sun exposure, sunbeds and self-tan. We cannot treat tanned skin.

  • Do not use fake tan products on or near the area to be treated.

In the week prior to treatment

  • Avoid waxing, plucking, or threading in the treatment area.

  • Do not use retinoids, AHA/BHA acids, bleaching creams, or other intensive skin treatments.

  • Avoid chemical peels or microdermabrasion.

In the  24 hours prior to treatment

  • If shaving is required (e.g., for hair removal), do so 24 hours before treatment.

On the day of treatment

  • Do not swim in chlorinated water before your appointment.

  • Avoid arriving hungry, dehydrated, hungover, or straight after a night shift.

  • You may take paracetamol an hour before treatment (if suitable), but please avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, or other NSAIDs.

  • Ensure the treatment area is clean and entirely free of any product including moisturiser, deodorant, makeup, or fake tan.

Important Note for Coolpeel Treatments Only:

If you have a history of cold sores or facial herpes, we recommend taking a course of antiviral medication to prevent viral reactivation following Coolpeel procedures. This does not apply to Precision Facial or Strengthening Facial treatments.

Highland Laser Clinic cannot prescribe medication, but we suggest the following protocol:

  • Aciclovir 400 mg twice daily

  • Start 2 days before treatment and continue for 5 days after.

Online prescription services are available via providers such as: https://pharmica.uk/

Immediately After Treatment

  • Aloe vera gel will be applied before you leave the clinic

  • Redness and swelling are normal and expected

  • Treated areas may darken (e.g. pigmentation, tags, fibroma, veins)

  • Skin tags and fibroma may become raised or feel dry

  • Veins may appear purple or black initially

  • Avoid strenuous activity for the rest of the day (gym, sports, etc.)

  • Before bed, gently cleanse with lukewarm water, pat dry, and apply Cicaplast B5 Balm

Next Day

  • Continue gentle cleansing and apply Cicaplast at least twice daily

  • Avoid direct heat on the treated area (hot showers, steam rooms, saunas)

  • Do not pick, rub or scratch at the treated areas

  • Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools

  • Avoid makeup on treated areas if flaking or irritation is present

  • Treated skin tags (if applicable) may darken and dry before detaching naturally

  • Avoid exfoliants, retinoids, acids (AHA/BHA), or intense skin treatments

2 Weeks Post-Treatment

  • If a skin tag has not detached after 2 weeks, soften in a hot shower or bath and gently twist to remove

  • Similarly, if a scab from fibroma removal has not self detached after 2 weeks, soften in a hot shower or bath and gently remove

  • Darkened pigmented lesions should have naturally flaked away naturally within approximately 2 weeks

4 Weeks Post-Treatment

  • Further treatment may be scheduled no sooner than 4 weeks after initial session

  • You must avoid tanning and fake tan for the full 4-week period post procedure, and 4 weeks before any further laser treatment

  • Gently pat dry with a clean towel and apply Cicasplast B5 Balm generously

  • Avoid makeup, exfoliants, or active skincare.

  • A feeling of tightness or prickliness is common. This usually settles by morning.

3 Days Post Treatment

  • Redness and pinpoint marks from the fractional phase may still be visible.

  • You can return to your regular gentle skincare routine if the skin feels calm.

  • Avoid actives (retinoids, acids, vitamin C) until at least 7 days post-treatment.

2–4 Weeks Post-Treatment

  • Most healing is complete by this stage.

  • You may resume active skincare if the skin barrier feels fully repaired.

  • Avoid strong sunshine or UV exposure for at least 4 weeks following treatment.

  • Allow a full 4 weeks before any further laser facial treatment

  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, and reapply if spending time outdoors.

Immediately After Treatment

  • We will provide skin cooling directly after treatment, followed by Aloe Vera to the treated area

  • Your skin may feel uncomfortably hot for 1–2 hours following treatment. This is expected and part of the laser’s clinical action.

  • You may intermittantly use cold packs for comfort. Use a clean cloth between your skin and the pack. Do not apply ice directly to the skin. If you experience any numbness, stop immediately. Overcooling can cause frostbite.

  • Skin will appear pink to red, with a slightly rough or dry texture.

Evening of Treatment

  • Cleanse your face gently before bed using a gentle Cleanser such as Cicaplast Lavant B5 and lukewarm water.

  • Gently pat dry with a clean towel and apply Cicasplast B5 Balm generously

  • Most dryness and flaking will have resolved by this point.

  • You may return to a gentle skincare routine if your skin feels calm.

  • Avoid actives such as retinoids, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), or vitamin C for a few more days

  • You may begin wearing makeup again if there is no residual irritation or broken skin.

  • Introduce daily SPF 30 or higher to protect the new skin and reduce risk of pigmentation.

  • Continue to avoid significant sun and UV exposure

4 Weeks Post-Treatment

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for a full 4 weeks following treatment. This includes natural sunlight and sunbeds.

  • Continue applying daily SPF 30 or higher even on cloudy days.
